Massachusetts Maritime Places Four On NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference Team

Four members of the Massachusetts Maritime men’s lacrosse team earned spots on the 2014 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team that was released by the league office.

Junior Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass./Wakefield) and sophomores James Klose (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Joseph), Conor Boudart (Myersville, Md./Middletown) and Jamie Foy (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) represented the Buccaneers on this year’s squad, which honors student-athletes who have earned a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.00 scale after the Fall 2013 semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution and has been a member of the team for the entire season.  MIT placed nine student-athletes on the 2014 NEWMAC Men’s Lacrosse Academic All-Conference team, while Springfield (6) and Massachusetts Maritime followed.

Massachusetts Maritime posted seven overall victories under fourth year Head Coach Rory Deegan this spring for the second time in three seasons, as the Buccaneers claimed the inaugural Maritime Cup title with wins over rivals Maine Maritime and SUNY-Maritime.

The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence.  Massachusetts Maritime is an affiliate member of the league and participates in the sport of men’s lacrosse along with Babson College, Clark University, Emerson College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Springfield College and Wheaton College.  The United States Coast Guard Academy will sponsor the sport of men’s lacrosse beginning next spring.
