Massachusetts Maritime's Murphy Named As MASCAC Baseball Co-Pitcher Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime junior right hander Corey Murphy was named as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week on Sunday evening for his efforts in the Buccaneers’ 4-0 victory over Emerson last Tuesday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.

A native of East Wareham, Mass. and a graduate of Wareham High School, Murphy tossed a complete-game five-hit shutout to record his second victory of the season, throwing 127 pitches (78 strikes) and striking out six along the way.  Murphy has allowed just 10 hits over his last 24 2/3 innings of work dating back to March 31st.

Murphy sports a 2-2 mark with a 4.13 ERA to date for Massachusetts Maritime, as he has struck out 22 in 32 2/3 innings of work while limiting opponents to a .207 batting average.  The MASCAC accolade was the first of his career.
