Bucs Win Third Set in Los to Bulldogs
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers volleyball team hosted Dean College on Thursday evening and though they won the third set the Bucs lost to the Bulldogs 3-1.

Maritime
- Gemma Geisler led the attack for the Buccaneers with seven kills. Marlo Stark had six kills of her own and Izabella Mackintosh tallied five kills.
- Shayla Narodowg led the team in assists with 17 and had a match-high five service aces with five.
- Chloe Johnson recorded four aces of her own.
- Defensively, Audrey Manning had a match-high 14 digs and Ashleigh Catlett reached double digits in digs with 10.
- At the net, Johnson recorded a match-high three solo blocks and an assist. Sydney McCarthy had two solo blocks and an assist. Mackintosh and Narodowg each had one block assist.
- In total, the Bucs had 26 kills, a .058 hitting percentage, 25 assists, 10 aces, 43 digs, and seven total blocks.

- Emily Larouche and Chloe DeMaio each had a match-high 10 kills.
- Bella Driscoll led the way in assists with 28
- Sari Albury recorded five service aces in the win.
- Defensively, Jenny Galley led the Bulldogs with 12 digs
- At the net, Albury had two solo blocks and Janai Price had one.
- In total, the Bulldogs had 35 kills, a .146 hitting percentage, 35 assists, 16 aces, 51 digs and three blocks.
How It Happened
Game one began with the teams keeping it close, trading points until the Bulldogs lead 5-4. After a Bucs service error, Dean ripped off nine straight points to take a 10-point 14-4 advantage. From there, the Buccaneers had difficulties getting back into the match and trailed by no less than eight towards the end of the set. With the score 22-13, Dean scored three points to the Bucs two to win the first set, 25-15.
In set two, Dean jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Bucs scored. With the score 6-1, Dean scored three followed by three from the Bucs to make the score 9-4. The Bulldogs then scored six in a row to take an 11-point 15-4 advantage. The Bucs scored two points to make it 15-6 but the 'Dogs went on to score seven unanswered and led 22-6. Maritime scored four more points in the game and Dean scored their 25th points with the score 24-10 to win the set 25-10 and take a 2-0 match lead.
Narodowg and the Bucs controlled the third set and she served nine straight times giving Maritime a 9-0 lead early. Dean scored six of the next seven to pull within four points, 10-6, followed by a momentum shift back to the Bucs who scored 10 unanswered to take a 20-6 lead. Not letting the Bulldogs get back into the game, Maritime scored five to Dean's three at the end of the set and won the game 25-9 bringing the match to 2-1 Bulldogs.
In set four, the Buccaneers battled, keeping the game close early. As the game progressed, the Bulldogs started to pull away going up five at 14-9. The Bucs scored seven more points in the set and the Bulldogs scored 11 down the stretch to win the game, 25-16, and the match, 3-1.
