Bucs Win in Straight Sets over Lynx

LEXINGTON, Mass -- The Buccaneers took to the road on Tuesday for their second straight match against Lesley. After their 3-0 win over the Lynx on Saturday, the Bucs won their second straight with another 3-0 victory over Lesley.

 

The Basics

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Gemma Geisler led the Bucs offensively with 10 kills.
  • Izabella Mackintosh recorded five kills in the win.
  • Shayla Natodowg led the match in assists with 15.
  • Marlo Stark posted eight service aces while Narodowg tallied seven and Ashleigh Catlett racked up six.
  • Defensively, Audrey Manning led the way with six digs. Geisler and Narodowg each had five.
  • In total, the Bucs had 27 kills with a .412 hitting percentage, 27 aces, and 22 digs.

Lesley

  • Emma Welch led the Lynx offensviely with six kills. 
  • Sinead Thomas and Estephany Morales each had three assists in the loss.
  • Three players had one ace for the Lynx
  • Thomas led the team defensively with four digs. 
  • Welch was credited with the only block of the match for either team.
  • In total, Lesley had eight kills with a .024 hitting percentage, seven assists, three aces, and 16 digs.

How It Happened

Maritime controlled the floor from the first serve jumping out to a big lead in the first set. With a hitting percentage of .400 in the game, the Bucs went on to win 25-8 to take a 1-0 match lead.

In the second set, the Bucs were better than the first set, hitting .417 with seven kills and only two errors. Lesley could only muster one kill against the Buccaneers defense and Maritime won the game by 20, 25-5, to take a 2-0 lead.

The third set saw the Lynx score the most points in any of the six games against the Bucs this season as they posted 13 with three kills and only one team error. The Bucs went on to get 12 kills in the set and hit at a .417 clip once again and won the game 25-13, securing the 3-0 match win.

 

What's Next

The Buccaneers will open the Homecoming Weekend festivities at Maritime with a Friday evening match at 6pm inside the Clean Harbors Athletics Center against Emmanuel.
