Academy Alum Salem Named Head Women's Soccer Coach

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- In a recent announcement by Director of Athletics Mike Kelley, former Buccaneer women's soccer standout and, most recently, assistant coach of the women's soccer team, Lauren Salem has been announced as the next and sixth head coach in program history.

"We are excited to announce Coach Salem as the next head coach of the women's soccer program," said Kelley. "Her knowledge of the game of soccer, this Academy and what it means to be a Buccaneer are just a few reasons why she is a great fit for this position."

Salem, a Westfield, MA native, is a 2014 graduate of the Academy and played four seasons for the Buccaneers. As a player, Salem scored 18 career goals, top three all-time in program history, including five game winners, and recorded 11 career assists. She played in 57 career games, having started 56 of them. In her senior season in 2013, she led the team with nine goals. She also led the team in goals and assists in 2010 with four goals and five assists. In 2011, Salem was selected to the All-MASCAC team and she was a captain in her senior season.

For the past three seasons, Lauren has served as an assistant coach for the team and works as a women's recruiter for the Department of Athletics and is a Company Officer for the Commandant's Office on campus.

Salem takes over a team that finished 2-10-2, 0-5-2 in the MASCAC, in 2021.
