How It Happened

There were a combined 25 shots between the two teams during the 90 minutes of regulation in Buzzards Bay with neither team able to find the back of the net. Both teams had their chances, finding their way through each other's defenses on a handful of occasions and were unable to settle things without overtime. Between the teams, there was only one corner kick, from the Buccaneers, in regulation and the goalies made their combined 16 saves in the first 90. After 90 minutes had passed, the teams headed to the first of two overtimes, tied at zero.

In the first overtime, Rivier took two shots to the Bucs one and the Raiders had a corner kick. Once again, the teams couldn't settle the affair and they went to a second overtime, knotted at 0-0.

In the second and final overtime, with the game ending in a draw if neither team is able to score, the Raiders took two shots, the Bucs took none. On a foul called 30 yards from goal, Rivier benefitted from a free kick with just over five minutes left to play. On her direct free kick attempt, Magoon took a shot at goal and, unable to see the ball over the wall, Durgin could not get to it in time as the ball went in to the net in the 105th minute, giving Rivier the 1-0 win over the Bucs.
