How It Happened

The Buccaneers were on the attack from the opening whistle. Not only did they take 15 shots in the game, nine of which were on target, they were caught offsides six time in the game as they continuously got behind the Lios back line. In the 16th minute, the Bucs took advantage of an Eastern NAaz give away and brough the ball upfield. The run of play finished with a pass from Maher that Elwood buried in the back of the net to give the Academy a 1-0 lead. Durgin and the Bucs defended their slim lead from a barrage of shots up until the halftime whistle.

Maritime did not let up in the second half, outshooting the Lions 9-6. In the 56th minute on one of those nine shots, Reddish provided an insurance policy in the form of her first career goal on a throughball from Quindley from the back line. The Buccaneers controlled the game for much of the second half, threatening on multiple occasions, including in the final minute. Ultimately, Maritime carried their 2-0 advantage to the final whistle and headed back to Buzzards Bay with the W in hand.
