Men's Track & Field Takes Part in Collier Invite

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- On Saturday, the Bucs men's track and field team competed in the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT. The Buccaneers finished the day with a handful of top ten finishes.

Anthony Childs finished seventh overall in the 400 meter dash final with a time of 51.49 seconds. Less than two second behind the first place finisher from MIT.

In the 110 meter hurdles final, freshman Steven Westgate finished ninth overall with a time of 17.24 seconds, a half second faster than the 10th place finisher from Gordon College.

The Bucs 4x100 meter relay team came across the line with a sixth place finish. The team of Childs, Sean GibsonMatthew McFarlane, and Ja'iel Johnson finished with a time of 44.90 seconds.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the Buccaneers finished fourth with a time of 9:49.95. The relay team included Thomas HayesJoshua GriffinHenry Mattson, and Ben Tuttle.

Gerry Mackin finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 13.73 meters. He also picked up a sixth place finish in the discus finals with a throw of 38.90 meters.

Chris Chaisson also finished in the top ten in the discus with a ninth place finish with a throw of 37.56 meters.

In the javelin final, the freshman duo of Joshua Christensen and Liam Higgins finished fifth and seventh respectively with throws of 52.24 and 48.87 meters.

The Buccaneers will take part in the MASCAC Championship meet next weekend at Bridgewater State.
