Track & Field Competes at Division III New England Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Buccaneers track & field teams sent 13 athletes, nine men and four women, to the Division III New England Championships at Williams College in Williamstown, MA on Friday and Saturday. The women competed in the 4x800 meter relay while four of the men competed in individual events and two relay teams competed in the 4x100, 4x400 meter relays. 

On the women's side, the relay team of Cam BoyceGabrielle GiammasiEvangaline Gosselin, and Lily Hakkarainen finished with a time of 11:34.44 in 15th place overall. 

On the men's side, the 4x100 meter relay team, composed of Demetri BoozerSean GibsonAnthony Childs, and Ja'iel Johnson, finished eighth overall with a time of 44.37 seconds. 

Childs, who also ran in the 200 meter dash, finished 13th overall with a finishing time of 22.67 seconds. 

Joshua Christensen competed in the men's javelin throw and finished 13th with a throw of 49.63 meters.

On Friday, Joshua Rousseau was the first Buccaneer to compete in the meet in the men's hammer throw. With a toss of 44.46 meters Rousseau finished 16th overall. 

Gerry Mackin threw in the shot put event and finished 14th overall with a best throw of 13.69 meters.

Finally, in the men's 4x400 meter relay, Sean Donohue, Steven Westgate, Childs, and Gibson finished 16th overall with a finishing time of 3:39.22.

With none of the Buccaneer athletes qualifying for the All-New England meet next weekend, a successful and record breaking track & field season comes to a close.
