Six Maritime Men Qualify for MASCAC Meet During Corsair Classic

DARTMOUTH, MA -- The Buccaneers men's track and field team took part in the Corsair Classic at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. With a strong showing, six Bucs qualified for the MASCAC championship meet at Bridgewater State on April 30th.

Ja'iel Johnson finished eighth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.47 seconds. The time qualified him for the MASCAC meet at the end of the month.

Alec Goldenberg finished fourth in the 800 meter run at 2:04.63 which qualified him for the event at the MASCAC Championships.

A relay team of Anthony ChildsSean DonohueSean Gibson, and Goldenberg finished fifth in the 4x400 meter relay. 

In the long jump event, Childs qualified for the MASCAC meet with a jump of 5.65 meters. 

With a third place finish in the men's shot put, Gerry Mackin final toss was 13.64 meters. Liam Higgins finished 15th in the event with a throw of 11.25 meters and will join Mackin in the event at the MASCAC meet.

Mackin and Chris Chaisson finished sixth and seventh respectively in the discus throw with throws of 38.33 and 37.87 meters. Both qualified for the discus at the Championships.

Chaisson picked up a seventh place finish in the hammer throw with a final throw of 37.93 meters.

Higgins picked up a 12th place finish in the javelin to qualify for the MASCAC meet with a throw of 43.86 meters.

The Buccaneers will take part in the Regis meet on Friday, April 8th and Fitchburg meet on Saturday, April 9th.
