How It Happened

On a foggy night on the banks of the Cape Cod Canal the first half of a non-conference action between the Raiders and Bucs was a battle for the midfield most of the first 45 minutes. The Buccaneers took their fair share of shots and Rivier was making the most of their set pieces putting the ball on net, mostly by way of headers. With neither goalie giving way, the teams went to the break tied at zero.

In the second half, the fog thickened as the Bucs threatened. Keeping the ball in the offensive zone more of the first 20 minutes of the second half paid off when Somers Scored on a cross in to the box by Carey in the 58th minute. The Bucs continued to push looking for insurance. In the final 20 minutes, Maritime went into a defensive formation and held off the Raiders as long as they could. Rivier had their chanced and could not capitalize. Maritime walked away with a big 1-0 win out of conference.
