How it Happened

The Buccaneers scored first and often in their conference opener. While it took some time to find the net, Somers scored the first Buccaneer goal from MacNeil in the 28th minute. The guests would then go on to score two more goals in under 10 minutes. Rutkai netted his goal from Vincetn in the 33rd minute and less than two minutes later Soughou scored his from Chase in the 35th minute. The shutout only lasted for six minutes as the Falcons broke through in the 41st minute on Wietecha's strike. The teams went to the break with the Bucs leading, 3-1.

In the second half, the Buccaneers took six shots on goal and were unable to get a shot past Robson. In the 53rd minute Coelho gave Fitchburg life as he cut the deficit to one on a goal, assisted by Campione. At 3-2 the Buccaneer defense and Murphy between the sticks held strong not allowing the Falcons to tie the game. The Buccaneers left Fitchburg with their first win of the season and a conference victory to boot.
