CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  Senior Ernie Park (Plainsboro, N.J.) netted a hat trick and two assists to back a 17-save effort in goal from junior Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) as MIT notched a 12-4 Pilgrim Lacrosse League victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Jack Barry Field.

The host Engineers (6-6, 2-2 Pilgrim) overcame an early 1-0 deficit with seven unanswered tallies, including two each by Park and sophomore Ben Hessels (Laytonsville, Md.), en route to a 7-2 advantage at the break, and collected the first four markers after intermission, including a man-up goal by Park to complete his hat trick and a man-down tally by sophomore Elliot Sykora (Wilmette, Ill.), in building a 10-2 edge with just under 11 minutes to play en route to the triumph.

Sykora finished with a pair of goals and an assist in the win for MIT, which also received a pair of tallies from Hessels and freshman Bill Kelleher (Pittsburgh, Pa.).  Freshman Jake Slonaker (West Windsor, N.J.) added a marker and two helpers for the Engineers, who also received a goal and assist from junior Sean Burke (Centennial, Ohio) as well as a marker off the stick of junior Gabe Blanchet (Hadley, Mass.).

Junior John Hojnoski (West Springfield, Mass.) netted a pair of goals in the setback for the host Buccaneers (6-8, 0-4 Pilgrim), who had taken the early edge on senior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) goal 4:58 into the match.  Freshman Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.) also tallied on the day for Massachusetts Maritime, while Rullan made 12 of his stops in the opening 30 minutes of play to pick up the triumph in goal for MIT.  Sophomore Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) made five first half saves in the setback for the Buccaneers, who received six second half stops from freshman Eric Kuehn (Norwell, Mass.) as the Engineers outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 37-33 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Regis in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League match on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while MIT travels to Norton, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon for a Pilgrim Lacrosse League clash with Wheaton that begins at 4:00 p.m.
