BANGOR, Maine --  Senior Ben Landry (Lewiston, Maine) scored five goals, while fellow senior Nick Brown (Fort Worth, Tex.) added four tallies and four assists for eight points to lead Husson to a 14-5 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field.

Landry netted two of the host Eagles’ (3-2) three markers in the opening stanza that staked Husson to a 3-1 edge after 15 minutes of play, and after senior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) sliced the visiting Buccaneers’ (1-1) deficit to one with his second goal of the day 36 seconds into the second quarter, the hosts scored four unanswered goals, including a pair of man-up markers from Landry and Brown, en route to an 8-3 advantage at the break.  Husson netted three of the first four scores after intermission, including Brown’s second man-up goal of the day, in taking a 12-5 lead into the final frame, and tallies by Landry and Brown in the final 5:20 of action accounted for the final margin.

Freshman Nolan Brown (Waterford, Conn.) added a hat trick in the triumph for the Eagles, who also received a pair of goals and an assist from sophomore Ben Potter (Chula Vista, Calif.).  Juniors Cris Pelletier (Rome, Maine) and Alex Ryan (Northfield, N.H.) each collected two assists for Husson, which also received single helpers off the sticks of senior Mike Craig (Kennebunk, Maine) and sophomore Matt Catalano (North Attleboro, Mass.).

Doucette notched a hat trick in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received markers off the sticks of senior Peter Menard (Somerset, Mass.) and freshman Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.) as well as two assists from freshman Adam Palilonis (Hightstown, N.J.).  Senior John Hooper (Wakefield, R.I.) picked up the win in goal for Husson with a 10-save effort, while sophomore Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) made 14 stops in net for the Buccaneers as the Eagles outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 48-26 margin in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wentworth in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Husson entertains Mount St. Mary in a non-league match next Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
