Connor Kennedy Earns Second MASCAC Baseball Player Of The Week Honor Of Season

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore outfielder Connor Kennedy earned his second Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week honor in three weeks on Monday afternoon after leading the first place Buccaneers to four conference victories last week.

Kennedy, a native of West Barnstable, Mass. and a graduate of Pope John Paul II High School, batted .632 (12-19) with five doubles, five RBI and 11 runs scored, including six hits, five runs scored and three RBI in a 9-6, 12-7 MASCAC sweep at Framingham State last Saturday.  Connor rapped out three hits (including a pair of doubles) and scored two runs in a 9-0 nightcap triumph over MCLA last Monday afternoon, and he added three hits in a 6-5 setback to Fisher last Thursday.  Kennedy posted a .652 on-base percentage that included three walks on the week, and he also notched a .895 slugging percentage.

Kennedy, who also claimed MASCAC Player of the Week accolades on April 11th after batting .467 in four league outings, is hitting at a .390 clip in 26 contests this spring with eight doubles and 15 RBI.  His award marks the fourth straight week that a Buccaneer has copped the conference honor, as sophomore Logan Sullo (Acushnet, Mass./Bishop Stang) earned the nod both on April 4th and April 18th.

Head Coach Mike Kelley’s squad, which has already matched its win total of last spring at 17-11 overall, enters the final week of regular season play tied with Salem State for the top spot in the MASCAC standings.  Massachusetts Maritime is scheduled to return to action tomorrow afternoon with a key league twinbill at Bridgewater State beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
