BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) rapped out six hits, including three doubles, and drove in four runs to lead Framingham State to a sweep of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader from Massachusetts Maritime by scores of 14-4 in the opener and 12-0 in the nightcap in gamed played Friday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.

Crofton collected four hits and drove in all four of his runs in the opening game triumph for the visiting Rams (13-10, 3-1 MASCAC), who broke open a two-run game in the fourth inning with a five-run rally that was highlighted by a three-run double off the bat of senior Pedro Acevedo (Fall River, Mass.).  Senior Chris Blydell (Lynn, Mass.) rapped out three hits in the opening victory for Framingham State, which also received two hits and two RBI each from junior Justin Forman (Watertown, Mass.) and sophomores Ivan Colon (Waltham, Mass.) and Tony Iafolla (Medfield, Mass.).  Freshman Cam Couillard (North Andover, Mass.) also collected two safeties as part of an 18-hit attack in support of sophomore Matt DiCato (Winthrop, Mass.), who fanned five in six innings of work to improve to 4-1 on the spring.

Junior Aram Mulhern (Taunton, Mass.) rapped out three hits in the opening game setback for the host Buccaneers (8-9, 1-3 MASCAC), as his steal of home in the second accounted for the first tally for Massachusetts Maritime, which crept back to within a pair at 5-3 in the third on RBI singles by Mulhern and senior Billy Shouldice (Rutland, Vt.), who added two hits in the first contest.  Sophomore Devin Rudolph (Carver, Mass.) accounted for the hosts’ final run on a sixth inning RBI single, as the Buccaneers collected nine total safeties.  Senior Jared Lowe (Brimfield, Mass.) suffered the setback on the mound for Massachusetts Maritime, fanning three in three-plus innings of work.

Framingham State jumped out to a 6-0 lead through its first three at-bats in the nightcap before sealing the sweep with a four-run fifth inning rally, as sophomore Matt Roberge (Lowell, Mass.) rapped out three hits and drove in four runs as part of a 16-hit Ram attack.  Couillard drove in two runs in the second contest for the visitors, who received two hits each from Crofton, Blydell, Forman, Acevedo and senior Chris Cole (Lynn, Mass.) in support of senior Ryan Stoller (Milton, Mass.), who tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout and fanned nine for his first win of the spring.  Shouldice, junior Zach Sullivan (Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomores Brendan O’Kane (Pocasset, Mass.) and Matt Pelletier (Bradford, Mass.) each singled in the nightcap setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as Mulhern suffered the setback on the mound for the Buccaneers, striking out one in 4 2/3 innings of work.
