Baseball Set To Open Corradi's 40th Campaign February 26th At Port Charlotte Snowbird Classic

Though the weekend snowstorm served as a reminder that winter still has New England in its grips, thoughts of springtime continue to abound at Massachusetts Maritime, as the start of the 2012 Buccaneer baseball season is just over a month away.

This year’s campaign will certainly be a special one in Buzzards Bay, as Massachusetts Maritime will take the diamond under the watchful eye of Head Coach Bob Corradi for a 40th season in 2012.  Corradi brings a total of 524 career victories into what will be the start of his fifth decade at the helm, and the Academy will celebrate his 40 years of service throughout the spring.

The Buccaneers launch the new year on Sunday, February 26th with a non-league doubleheader against John Jay at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla. beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST.  Massachusetts Maritime will then begin its Northern slate on Saturday, March 17th with a St. Patrick’s Day twinbill at Commodore Hendy Field against Lyndon State beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST, as the Buccaneers will play a total of 18 home contests in 2012, ending regular season play on Tuesday, May 1st against Babson.

Corradi’s crew opens Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday, March 31st with a league twinbill at MCLA, as the Buccaneers will entertain Fitchburg State, Framingham State and Worcester State in conference play this spring.
