McCarey Resigns As Massachusetts Maritime's Head Women's Soccer Coach

Buzzards Bay, Mass. --  Christine McCarey, who served for the last three seasons as Head Women's Soccer Coach at Massachusetts Maritime, has resigned her position and will remain at the Academy to concentrate on her full-time duties in the Office of Admissions.  McCarey's resignation, which is effective immediately, was accepted and announced by Bob Corradi, Massachusetts Maritime's Director of Athletics.

A native of Middleboro, Mass., McCarey is the only head coach that the Buccaneers have known in their three-year varsity existence, as she guided Massachusetts Maritime from its first season in 2008 through this past fall.  A former standout at Springfield who previously served as an assistant coach at Bridgewater State, McCarey led her squad to a school-record three victories in 2010 with shutout triumphs over Becker, Wheelock and Pine Manor, and she coached the program's first-ever all-MASCAC performer in senior standout Stephanie Lee.

"I want to thank Christine for her tireless efforts in building our women's soccer program over the past three years," Corradi says of McCarey.  "She has played an invaluable role as a coach, leader and mentor, and our student-athletes have truly benefited from her hard work."

Corradi stated that a search for McCarey's successor will begin immediately.
