BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Leslie Hayden (Ross, Calif.) scored a pair of goals to lead Suffolk to a 5-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Junior Natalie Favati (Singapore, Singapore) gave the visiting Rams (13-2-1) the only goal they would need to extend their winning streak to nine straight with an unassisted marker (her fourth of the season) in the 38th minute for a 1-0 advantage at the break, and Hayden extended that margin to 2-0 in the 64th minute by converting a feed from freshman Meghan McHale (Halifax, Mass.).  Suffolk then struck for three tallies in just over seven minutes, as freshman Mia Dangora’s (Billerica, Mass.) first collegiate goal in the 71st minute of play was followed just 1:26 later when freshman Gabrielle Balestrier (Mohnton, Pa.) converted a Favati feed for her 15th marker of the fall.  Hayden capped the Rams’ scoring by converting a penalty kick with 12:30 remaining in the contest (her 13th goal of the season) after being taken down in the penalty area.

Senior Emily Joyce (Easton, Mass.) picked up her 13th win of the season in goal for Suffolk with a three-save effort, while sophomore Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) made 15 stops in net in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-10) as the Rams outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 25-7 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its 2010 schedule on Saturday afternoon by heading to Salem, Mass. to take on Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at 3:00 p.m., while Suffolk will begin play in the 2010 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships as the top seed on Sunday afternoon at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass. with a quarterfinal round match against an opponent to be determined beginning at 5:30 p.m.
