Preview: Men's Lax Takes on Keene State in LEC Quarterfinals

Tuesday afternoon the Buccaneers men's lacrosse team travels to Keene State for the second time this season, this time in the Little East Conference playoffs. The Buccaneers are in the LEC postseason tournament for the second consecutive season making it all the way to the semi-finals last season against UMass Boston and were just 10 seconds away from going to the conference finals. This season, they are the fifth seed in the tournament and take to the road to face an Owls team that they lost to earlier in the season in New Hampshire by a final of 21-8.

In that loss to Keene on April 4th, the Buccaneers were led offensively by Gage Coolahan with two goals. Mitchell MaidaDaniel KaneCooper BarrettBraeden Kosiewicz, and Ryan McDonough also scored in the game for the Bucs. Maida led the way with two assists. A big factor for the Bucs in regards to success this season has been their faceoff man Brian Rosher. Rosher was 15-for-32 in the loss to Keene and has been outstanding once again for them in the faceoff circle again this season. Dean Fey got the start between the pipes for Coach Smith's squad in that game and made 10 saves while allowing 21 goals. John Aidonidis, two-time recipient of the LEC Goalkeeper of the Week Award has been solid in goal for the Bucs this season and should see time against the Owls in this game.

On the other side of things, the home team's leading scorer in the win over the Bucs was Cooper Cioffi who netted seven goals. Rex Maccarini had four helpers in the victory. Goalkeeper Charlie Giuliotti made 10 saves and allowed the eight Buccaneer goals in the Owls win.
