Bucs Chosen 4th in Little East Preseason Poll
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Thursday afternoon, the Little East Conference released their 2023 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll and the Buccaneers sit fourth amongst the league's nine teams.
In 2022, the Bucs first season of competition in the conference, Maritime posted a 5-3 conference record with wins over Southern Maine, Plymouth State, Eastern Connecticut, Salem State and Castleton. Their losses came at the hands of UMass Boston, the eventual Conference Champions, West Conn, and Keene State.
The Bucs finished fourth in the conference last season and proceeded to win their first LEC playoff game against Eastern Connecticut at home. They went on to face off against UMass Boston and gave the Beacons fits for 60 minutes ultimately losing to the Champs by a score of 21-20 with the winning goal coming in the waning second of the fourth quarter.
First-year head coach Mike Smith and his team will look to build on the 2022 season in their second season of play in the LEC.
