FINAL:              WORCESTER STATE 5, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Shelby Archer (Dayville, Conn.) and junior Alicia Macomber (Stoughton, Mass.) each netted a goal and an assist to lead Worcester State to a 5-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Sophomore Kendal Bergenholtz (Grafton, Mass.) gave the visiting Lancers (9-3, 4-0 MASCAC) the only goal they would need 12:39 into the contest on a feed from senior Alyssa Sawyer (West Springfield, Mass.), and Archer’s unassisted tally in the 28th minute extended that margin to 2-0 at the break.  Macomber took a pass from junior Mackenzie Foye (Ludlow, Mass.) in the 63rd minute and converted a breakaway for her team-leading ninth marker of the season to give Worcester State a 3-0 advantage, and the visitors added a pair of goals in a 58 second span in the 72nd minute, as freshman Justine Butler (Marlboro, Mass.) headed in a Macomber corner kick before senior Kaleigh Evans (Saugus, Mass.) converted an Archer feed on a breakaway to close out the scoring.

Junior Jillian Witkowski (Leicester, Mass.) picked up her eighth win of the season without having to make a first half save on the night for Worcester State, which received a second half stop from sophomore Vanessa O’Donnell (Worcester, Mass.), while junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 10 saves in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-6-3, 0-3-1 MASCAC).  The Lancers took 21 of the 23 shots for the evening (15-1 on goal) while also taking 10 of the 11 corners for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Milton, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Curry in a non-league match that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Worcester State will be idle until Saturday, October 18th when the Lancers host Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing in Worcester, Mass. beginning at 11:00 a.m.
