FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 6, PINE MANOR 0

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --  Sophomore Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 6-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Pine Manor Saturday afternoon at Hedley Field.

The visiting Buccaneers (1-1) netted all of their markers in the opening 39-plus minutes of play, as junior Emily Behen (Danvers, Mass.) gave Massachusetts Maritime the only tally it would need in the 15th minute of action before Callinan struck twice less than seven minutes to extend that margin to 3-0 in the 30th minute.  Goals by sophomore Dahlia Seggelin (Sharon, Mass.) and freshman Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) in a 23 second span extended the Buccaneer advantage to 5-0 in the 34th minute, and freshman Alexandra Sheeran (Weymouth, Mass.) closed out the visitors’ scoring in the 40th minute of play with an unassisted marker.

Seggelin, Hunt and Sheeran each finished with a goal and an assist in the triumph for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a helper from junior Asia Vernon (Dutch Harbor, Ak.).  Junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) picked up the win in goal without having to make a first half save for the Buccaneers, while Hunt made a pair of stops in the final 45 minutes of play in net for the visitors in her first collegiate action.  Sophomore Maria Vaughan (Okinawa, Japan) made 12 saves in goal in the setback for the host Gators (0-2), as Massachusetts Maritime outshot Pine Manor by a 26-5 margin (18-2 on goal) while taking both corner kicks for the contest.

Both teams will square off with Anna Maria in their next respective non-league matches, with Massachusetts Maritime hosting the Amcats on Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Pine Manor heads to Paxton, Mass. on Monday afternoon for its outing with Anna Maria at 4:00 p.m.
