NORTH ADAMS, Mass. --  Junior Alexi Anderson’s (Green Island, N.Y.) goal 5:03 into the second half held up as the game-winner and lifted MCLA to a 1-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

Anderson converted a feed from sophomore Nicole Zacchio (Cairo, N.Y.) in the 51st minute of play for her third marker of the season for the host Trailblazers (5-11-1, 2-5 MASCAC), who earned the sixth and final spot in next week’s MASCAC championships with the triumph.  MCLA will travel to third-seeded Framingham State for a league quarterfinal round contest on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.

Sophomore Katy Daly (South Cairo, N.Y.) made one save to earn her fourth victory of the season in goal for the Trailblazers, while junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 13 stops in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers, who ended the season at 3-10-3 overall and 0-6-1 in MASCAC play.  MCLA outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 32-3 margin (14-1 on goal) while holding a 7-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Levesque topped the 500-career save plateau in today’s setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as she will enter her senior campaign with 508 saves in 46 career matches played.
