FINAL: FRAMINGHAM STATE 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Goals by senior Marisa Parent (Revere, Mass.) and junior Marissa Miele (Hudson, Mass.) lifted Framingham State to a 2-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.
Parent gave the visiting Rams (10-5, 5-1 MASCAC) the only tally they would need just 1:34 into the contest when she converted a feed from junior Brini Varetimos (North Attleboro, Mass.) for her 14th goal of the season, and Miele added an insurance marker with 6:31 to play off a corner kick from senior Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) for her fourth goal of the fall that closed out the scoring.
Junior Sara Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) picked up her seventh win and fifth shutout of the season in goal for Framingham State by making one save on the day, while junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 14 stops in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-9-3, 0-5-1 MASCAC), including eight in the second half alone. The Rams took 24 of the 25 shots as well as all eight corner kicks for the contest.
Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Buccaneers head to North Adams, Mass. to take on MCLA in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season finale for both teams that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State hosts Emmanuel in a non-league match on Tuesday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. beginning at 3:00 p.m.
