Young Named As MASCAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore goalkeeper Brett Young was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Sunday afternoon for his efforts in a pair of matches for the Buccaneers last week.

A native of Falmouth, Mass. and a graduate of Falmouth High School, Young stopped 24 of 26 shots and posted an 0.90 goals against average for Head Coach Greg Perry’s squad, including a career-high 16 saves in a 1-1 double overtime draw with MASCAC rival Bridgewater State last Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.  Young made a pair of point blank saves in the first overtime period for Massachusetts Maritime and made five overall stops in the two extra sessions.  He made eight saves in a 2-1 Buccaneer victory at WPI last Wednesday evening to finish with a .923 saves percentage for the week.

Massachusetts Maritime closes out its 2011 schedule with a pair of road matches this week at UMass Boston on Wednesday afternoon and at Salem State on Saturday afternoon.
