WESTFIELD, Mass. --  Senior Jeff Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.) made 12 saves to record his third shutout of the season in goal and lift Westfield State to a 4-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday evening at Alumni Field.

Senior Justin Laliberte’s (Easthampton, Mass.) unassisted marker in the 30th minute of play gave the host Owls (6-1-1, 1-0-1 MASCAC) the only tally they would need for a 1-0 advantage at the break, and fellow senior Josh Severns (Suffield, Conn.) extended that margin to 2-0 just 1:06 after intermission with an unassisted tally of his own.  Junior Bill Lund’s (Monson, Mass.) unassisted goal with 9:21 to play gave the hosts a 3-0 cushion, and sophomore Eric Andreski (Westfield, Mass.) closed out Westfield State’s scoring with 2:08 remaining in the match on a feed from fellow sophomore Dan Brady (Wilbraham, Mass.) off a corner kick.

Pepoli made six saves in each half of play to notch the triumph in net for the Owls, while sophomore Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made nine saves in 82-plus minutes of action in goal in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-6, 0-2 MASCAC) as Westfield State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 25-22 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Paxton, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Anna Maria in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Westfield State hosts Endicott in a non-league match on Thursday evening at Alumni Field that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
