Mills Earns MASCAC Men's Soccer First Team All-Conference Accolades

Buzzards Bay, Mass. --  Massachusetts Maritime sophomore back Asa Mills was named to the 2011 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer all-conference first team in a vote of the league’s eight coaches.  The honor was announced earlier today by MASCAC Commissioner Angela Baumann.

A native of Westport, Mass. and a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, Mills becomes the second straight Buccaneer back to earn all-MASCAC first team accolades, joining Jon White ’11 in that category.  Mills started all 14 matches in which he appeared in this fall for veteran Head Coach Greg Perry, as he keyed a defensive unit that saw Massachusetts Maritime participate in eight one-goal contests during the season.  Mills has appeared in 22 career contests overall in two seasons, as he made his lone collegiate goal stand up as the game-winner in a 2-1 victory at Worcester State in 2010.

Perry guided the Buccaneers to a pair of victories and a tie with rival Bridgewater State in his 19th season at the helm in 2011, including a 2-1 triumph over perennial New England power WPI.
