BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Stuart Kinsman’s (Granville, Mass.) goal in the 73rd minute of play backed a career-high 16 save effort in net from sophomore Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) as Massachusetts Maritime forged a 1-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference double overtime tie with Bridgewater State Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Kinsman converted a feed from sophomore Hieu Nguyen (Weymouth, Mass.) on the second half equalizer for the host Buccaneers (2-10-1, 1-4-1 MASCAC), as he lofted a shot from 15 yards out to even matters after junior Simao Mendes (Brockton, Mass.) had given the visiting Bears (5-5-3, 2-1-3 MASCAC) the early advantage with an unassisted marker just 10:31 into the contest.  Young and Bridgewater State junior Joe Parsons (Springfield, Mass.) took over the match in the final 35-plus minutes of play, as Parsons stopped a pair of point blank shots by Massachusetts Maritime senior Mike McCarthy (Norwell, Mass.) with 17 seconds to play and another by sophomore Asa Mills (Westport, Mass.) in the closing ticks of regulation.  Young countered with two point blank stops four minutes into the first extra session, as he turned aside a direct kick by Bridgewater State senior Donald Flores (Cranston, R.I.) and a follow-up off the rebound by senior Dan Roberts (Braintree, Mass.) as neither team scored in the two overtime periods.

Young made five of his saves in the two extra sessions for the Buccaneers, as both he and Parsons each had 11 stops in regulation.  The Bears held a slim 22-21 edge in shots for the contest, as Massachusetts Maritime is now unbeaten in its last two matches with Bridgewater State after not posting a win in the series between the two squads since 1991 prior to a 2-1 triumph last season.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Boston on Wednesday afternoon to take on UMass Boston in a non-league match that begins at 3:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State hosts UMass Dartmouth in a non-league outing on Tuesday afternoon in Bridgewater, Mass. beginning at 3:30 p.m.
