PAXTON, Mass. --  Junior Allan Mugisha (Burlington, Mass.) netted a pair of goals, including the go-ahead marker in the 53rd minute of play, as Anna Maria used four second half scores to post a 5-2 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Amcat Field.

The host Amcats (2-9-1) grabbed an early 1-0 advantage on freshman A.J. Lambert’s (Charlton, Mass.) goal 11:45 into the contest, but the visiting Buccaneers (0-7) forged a 1-1 draw at the break on sophomore Hieu Nguyen’s (Weymouth, Mass.) unassisted tally just 3:29 before halftime.  Freshman Stuart Kinsman (Granville, Mass.) gave Massachusetts Maritime a 2-1 edge just 1:21 after intermission with his first collegiate marker on a feed from junior Tim McDonough (Framingham, Mass.), but Anna Maria evened matters less than five minutes later on an unassisted goal from junior Justin Hyland (Leicester, Mass.).  Mugisha gave the Amcats the lead for good just 1:13 later with his first score of the night before adding an insurance tally in the 61st minute off a feed from Hyland that gave the hosts a 4-2 advantage, and junior Enco Lika’s (Worcester, Mass.) unassisted goal with 36 seconds closed out the scoring for the match.

Senior Mike Dandurand (Warwick, R.I.) picked up his first victory of the season in goal for Anna Maria with seven saves, while sophomore Brett Young (Falmouth, Mass.) made a pair of stops in 62-plus minutes of action in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as freshman Andrew Brown (Bel Air, Md.) played the final 27-plus minutes in net for the visitors.  The Buccaneers outshot the Amcats by a 19-9 margin for the contest, including an 11-6 edge over the final 45 minutes of play.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Anna Maria hosts Suffolk in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Amcat Field beginning at 2:30 p.m.
