BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Senior Joe Petit (Salem, Mass.) netted a pair of goals to lead Lesley to a 4-1 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.
Petit gave the visiting Lynx (3-1) the lead 9:10 into the match with an unassisted tally, and sophomore Ali Sozeri’s (Istanbul, Turkey) unassisted marker in the 21st minute extended Lesley’s lead to 2-0 at the break. Petit’s second goal of the night, which came on a feed from senior Ryan Rodgers (Hollis, N.H.), gave the visitors a three-goal edge, and junior Jimmy Paulsen’s (Monroe, Conn.) tally on a pass from freshman Jordan Santos (Middlebury, Conn.) with 7:10 remaining accounted for the Lesley scoring. Freshman Rob Robbs (Braintree, Mass.) notched his first collegiate goal with 52 seconds to play in the match on a feed from junior Tim McDonough (Framingham, Mass.) to account for the lone tally of the night for the host Buccaneers (0-3).
