LEICESTER, Mass. --  Freshman Ryan van Doorn’s (Morganville, N.J.) goal in the 69th minute lifted Becker to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

van Doorn converted a feed from senior Timothy Howard (Paxton, Mass.) for his first collegiate tally that gave the host Hawks (1-2) the triumph, as sophomore Tim McDonald (Holden, Mass.) made that stand up by making nine saves in net to record the shutout victory.  Junior Patrick Slaney (Northbridge, Mass.) made four stops in goal in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-2), who outshot Becker by an 18-9 margin for the match while holding a 4-1 advantage in corners.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Lesley in a non-league outing on Saturday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 6:30 p.m., while Becker will travel to Paxton, Mass. on Monday evening for a non-league match with Anna Maria that begins at 7:00 p.m.
