Trailblazers Shut out Buccaneers for first MASCAC Victory

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Friday afternoon, the Buccaneers hosted the MCLA Trailblazers in the first of three conference games between the two teams this weekend. Coming in, the Buccaneers looked to keep the 'Blazers winless in conference but MCLA had other plans as they shutout the Bucs, 7-0, in the first of their three-game conference series.

 

How It Happened

The Buccaneers were held to no runs by the MCLA starting pitcher, Bobby New (Pittsfield, Mass) who chucked a complete game, seven hitter. MCLA on the other hand, scored seven runs, the first of which came in the top of the second inning on a Dillon Maxon (Brunswick, N.Y.) double, scoring Joe Toledo (Brooklyn, N.Y.). That would ultimately be all that the Trailblazers needed ut they added six more runs, two in the fourth and four in the eighth to put the game away.

At The Plate

The Bucs has seven hits, batting 7-for-32. Dylan Sullo (Acushnet, Mass) had the lone multi-hit game for Maritime, both extra base hits, a double and a triple.

Three other players, Marley Dembitzki (North Dartmouth, Mass), Nick Haley (Hanson, Mass) and Michael Doyle (Boston, Mass) had extra base hits for the Bucs, all doubles.

The Buccaneers Worked one walk, struck out seven times and left seven runners on base.

MCLA had one more hit than Maritime in the game, batting 8-for-34. Maxon led the way with three hits, including a double. Christian Seariac (Framingham, Mass) had two hits in the game, including a double.

Seariac drove in two runs for the visitors and scored twice.

Trailblazers hitters worked 10 walks off Maritime pitching, struck out six times and left 14 runners on base.

 

Up Next: Maritime and MCLA meet again on Sunday morning in North Adams, Mass to complete the three-game conference series with a double header beginnings at 11am.
