NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Senior Brittney Enos (East Falmouth, Mass.) scored six goals, while junior Taylor Corsano (Bourne, Mass.) added five goals and five assists for 10 points to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 22-9 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Cressy Field.

The host Corsairs (2-0) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the opening 5:06 of action before tallies from senior Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) and freshman Molly Smith (Westwood, Mass.) in a 20 second span enabled the visiting Buccaneers (0-1) to forge a 2-2 draw.  UMass Dartmouth collected three straight scores to open a 5-2 edge before Courcy and Smith again teamed up to close Massachusetts Maritime’s deficit to one, but the hosts scored the final six goals over the final 8:44 of play in the half to take an 11-4 lead at the break, as Corsano collected four of her five markers in the opening 30 minutes of action.  UMass Dartmouth matched its first half output and registered a trio of three-goal runs in the second half, including hat tricks off the sticks of Enos and freshman Colleen Kane (Arlington, Mass.), in notching its triumph.

Enos and Kane each added an assist to finish with seven and six points, respectively, in the win for the Corsairs, who also received a pair of tallies and six assists from senior Denise Gates (Feeding Hills, Mass.).  Sophomore Madison Reilly (Bridgewater, Mass.) chipped in with two markers and a helper in the triumph for the hosts, who also received a goal and two assists from freshman Carina Filosa (Milford, Mass.) as well as a single tally off the stick of sophomore Shelby Friedland (New Bedford, Mass.).

Courcy collected four goals and a pair of assists for six points in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which received a hat trick from Smith in her collegiate debut.  Senior Shelagh Hogan (North Andover, Mass.) added a marker and helper in the setback for the Buccaneers, which also received a goal from freshman Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.) and an assist from freshman Shavonne Boyle (Doylestown, Pa.).

Senior Angelina Donovan (Medford, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for UMass Dartmouth with 10 saves, while sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) made eight stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Corsairs outshot the Buccaneers by a 33-26 margin for the contest in spoiling Head Coach Leslie Bullis’ collegiate debut on the sidelines for the visitors.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Boston on Monday afternoon to take on Simmons in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while UMass Dartmouth will square off with Mount Holyoke on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.
