Bullis Named As Massachusetts Maritime's Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

Buzzards Bay, Mass. --  Leslie Bullis, who enjoyed a standout playing career at Division II Bentley University, has been named as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Massachusetts Maritime.  Bullis’s appointment, effective immediately, was announced earlier today by Buccaneer Director of Athletics Bob Corradi.

A resident of East Falmouth, Mass., Bullis takes over for Julie Rigo, who guided Massachusetts Maritime to a pair of victories during its inaugural varsity campaign last spring.  Rigo’s Buccaneers also captured both the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance and Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Presidential Sportsmanship Awards and placed a pair of individuals on the 2012 NEWLA all-conference squad.

Bullis earned her degree in Information Design & Corporate Communication from Bentley in 2008, and she was a four-year letterwinner for the Falcons from 2005-08.  Over that time span, she scored 17 goals and four assists for 21 points and led Bentley to 31 victories and a berth in the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference championship match where the Falcons dropped a two-goal decision to eventual NCAA national semi-finalist Stonehill.  Bullis netted a career-high eight goals during her junior campaign in 2007.

“It’s a great honor for me to join the Academy program at a very exciting time,” Bullis says of her appointment.  “I want to thank Coach Corradi and the administration for giving me the opportunity to direct this program going forward—I’m very excited about the future and looking forward to working with the student-athletes.”

“I’m thrilled to welcome Coach Bullis to the Buccaneer family,” Corradi says of Bullis’s appointment.  “It was very tough to lose Coach Rigo after a tremendous first season last spring, but I know that Coach Bullis and her staff will work very hard to continue to build our program and instill all of the qualities in our student-athletes that help make the Academy a very special place to be.”

Massachusetts Maritime will begin the Leslie Bullis era on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 when the Buccaneers travel to Boston to take on Wentworth in a non-league match that begins at 7:00 p.m. EST.
