BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) netted eight goals, while freshman Samantha Salamone (Milford, Mass.) added a hat trick and two assists for five points to lead Regis to a 19-8 non-league college women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

Politis collected a hat trick in the opening 4:52 of action as the visiting Pride (5-2) notched the first five tallies of the contest en route to a 12-3 advantage at the break, as Regis also received a goal and four assists off the stick of junior Lindsey Graver (Bellingham, Mass.) as well as a pair of markers and two helpers from sophomore Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) in posting its fourth straight triumph.  Sophomores Krysten Sheppard (Medford, Mass.) and Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I.) chipped in with two goals each for Regis, who also received a tally from junior Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.).

 

Senior Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) netted four goals and an assist to finish with five points in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-4), who also received a pair of tallies and a helper from freshman Molly Smith (Westwood, Mass.) as well as a marker and two assists off the stick of freshman Shavonne Boyle (Doylestown, Pa.).  Senior Shelagh Hogan (North Andover, Mass.) added a goal and an assist as well for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a helper from freshman Janine Prokscha (Washington, Conn.).

 

Freshman Emma Decker (Southboro, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Regis with seven saves over the first 42-plus minutes of play, as fellow freshman Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.) added six stops over the final 17-plus minutes of action for the visitors.  Sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) made 13 saves in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, as the Pride outshot the Buccaneers by a 34-26 margin for the match.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wheelock in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Regis hosts Bard in a non-league match on Tuesday evening in Weston, Mass. that begins at 6:00 p.m.
