Sailing Finishes Seventh at Admiral Aylmers Regatta

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- Maritime Sailing welcomes six schools to Herring Pond on Saturday afternoon for the Admiral Aylmers Regatta. URI took home the first place finish while the Buccaneers finished seventh with a total of 148 points.

It was a warm, sunny morning for sailing on Herring Pond, allowing the teams to get through five races by mid day. During the sixth race of the day the winds picked up causing issues with a number of boats. Finally, racing was called off due to a number of teams needing assistance with their boats. 

URI finished first with a total of 25 points. That was 14 points better than second place finishers Northeastern. Olin College of Engineering finished third with 84 points. 

The Buccaneers finished in seventh place with a total of 148 points, 15 points behind the University of Vermont in sixth place.
