BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Tyler Genereux (Duxbury, Mass.) went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Massachusetts Maritime to an 8-1 non-league college baseball victory over Gordon Tuesday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field.

The host Buccaneers (5-3) extended their winning streak to five straight by scoring all of the runs they would need in the second inning, as a two-run single by Genereux was followed by a two-run double off the bat of senior Michael Vargas (Framingham, Mass.) as a part of a four-run outburst with two outs.  An RBI single off the bat of sophomore Zachary Sullivan (Barnstable, Mass.) extended Massachusetts Maritime’s lead to 5-0 in the fourth, and the hosts tacked on three more tallies in the sixth and seventh frames, respectively, on an RBI single and double by Genereux as well as Sullivan’s second run-scoring single of the afternoon.  The visiting Fighting Scots (1-8) broke up the shutout in the top of the eighth when sophomore Brian Harrington (Shoreham, N.Y.) doubled, stole third and plated the lone Gordon run on a throwing error that accounted for the final score.

Vargas joined Sullivan with two hits as part of a 10-hit Buccaneer attack in support of senior Nick Levitre (Grafton, Mass.), who allowed just two hits and struck out eight for his first victory of the season the mound, while junior Jared Lowe (Brimfield, Mass.) allowed an unearned run and fanned three over the final three innings for the hosts.  Harrington rapped out two of the four Gordon hits on the day, as sophomore Christian Bradley (Whitinsville, Mass.) allowed all eight runs and struck out four over seven innings of work for the Fighting Scots.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Becker in a non-league outing on Thursday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Gordon hosts Eastern Nazarene in a Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Wenham, Mass. beginning at 2:00 p.m.
