FORT PIERCE, Fla.-- The Massachusetts Maritime baseball team opened its 2011 season on Friday afternoon by dropping a 14-11 non-league decision to Cornell (Iowa) as part of its annual visit to the Sunshine State.

Sophomore Tyler Genereux (Duxbury, Mass.) shined both at the plate and on the mound for the Buccaneers (0-1), as he rapped out a pair of hits and scored three runs while fanning four in two innings of relief. Senior Brad Musk (Dania, Fla.) added three singles in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received two hits each from senior Nick Levitre(Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Aram Mulhern (Taunton, Mass.).

Senior Corey Murphy (East Wareham, Mass.) suffered the setback on the mound for the Buccaneers, who opened Head Coach Bob Corradi's 39th season of play.  Massachusetts Maritime wraps up its spring break swing on Sunday evening by taking onMarywood (Pa.) in a non-league doubleheader that begins at 6:00 p.m.
