Bucs Fall to Bears in Playoff Tune-Up Match

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers volleyball team played their final regular season match of the season against conference opponent Bridgewater State on Saturday at home. The Bears, who will enter the MASCAC Playoffs as the second seed, took down the Bucs in straight sets, 3-0.

 

The Basics

Final: Bears 3, Buccaneers 0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-21)

Records: Bridgewater (11-9, 6-1)

               Maritime (4-22, 2-5)

 

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Maliah ServinoHailey Rumlow, and Shayla Narodowg all led the Bucs with five kills apiece. 
  • Narodowg led the team in assists with 13 and was the team leader in aces with three.
  • Defensively, Audrey Manning led the way with 16 digs in the match.
  • At the net, Servino had the only block of the day for the Bucs.

Bridgewater

  • Lily Welch led all players with 13 kills in the win for the Bears.
  • Bethany Votta led the team with 13 assists and Xin Ai Robinson added 11.
  • Ava Crane led all players with nine aces in the match.
  • Defensively, Crane also led all players with 18 digs and Welch had 10 of her own.
  • At the net, Welch and Abigail Reardon each had a solo block. Kim Gowell and Reardon each added a block assist. 

What's Next

The Buccaneers will be on the road on Tuesday evening at Framingham State for their first playoff match in the MASCAC Playoffs since 1996.
