Bucs Lose Two Competitive Matches to Hawks

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Hartford for two matches on Saturday afternoon on Taylor's Point. In the first match, the Hawks won in straight sets with the Bucs bring the games down to the wire. In the second match, the Bucs won the first set and dropped sets two and three before coming back to tie the match at 2-2. Then, in the fifth and final set, the Hawks edged out the Bucs for the 3-2 victory.

Final: Hawks 3, Buccaneers 0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18)

Hartford

  • Jordan Murphy led all players with 12 kills in the win. Sydney Ball added seven.
  • Liahnna Orange had a team-high 17 assists in the match and Kylee Connally had 14.
  • Orange led all players with four service aces and Kalle Legassey had three of her own.
  • Defensively, Ball had 15 digs and Legassey and Murphy each reached double digits with 10 digs each.
  • At the net, Ball had a solo block and Emma Theobold and Murphy combined for a block.

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Alanys Torres recorded her first career double-digit kill game with 10. Maliah Servino recorded eight and Marlo Stark and Shayla Narodowg each had six.
  • Narodowg had 27 assists in the loss for the Bucs and led the match with an impressive seven service aces.
  • Defensively, Audrey Manning led all players with 30 digs, double that of the Hawks leader in the category.
  • At the net, Chloe Johnson recorded three solo blocks. Narodowg had three block assists while Sydney McCarthy added two and Servino, Alaina Strozik, and Johnson all had one block assists.

Hartford

  • Jordan Murphy had an astounding 28 kills in the win for the Hawks. Sydney Ball had 12 of her own. 
  • Kylee Connally had a match-high 28 assists for Hartford.
  • Connally also led the Hawks in aces with four.
  • Defensively, Kylee Legassey and Ball both had 15 digs. Amaiya Lu and Murphy each had 14 in the match.
  • At the net, Emily Theobold had two solo blocks and Jenna and Jordan Murphy both had one. Jenna Murphy had three block assists with Theobold, Jordan Murphy, and Julianna Robishaw each recording two.

The Buccaneers travel to UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, September 24th to take on a tough Corsairs team in non-conference play at 7pm.
