Klangos Registers 10 Kills, Nine Digs As Volleyball Drops 3-0 MASCAC Decision At Salem State

SALEM, Mass. --  Freshman Allison Vellucci (Northville, Mich.) registered 10 kills to lead Salem State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening by game scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-19 in a league match played at Twohig Gymnasium.

 

Senior Emily Peay (Lebanon, Conn.) added nine kills, eight digs and two solo blocks in the triumph for the host Vikings (5-13, 2-2 MASCAC), who also received seven kills and nine digs from junior Jerika Santiago (Methuen, Mass.).  Freshman Kaleena Kara (Douglas, Mass.) chipped in with eight digs, five kills and four service aces for Salem State, which also received 20 set assists and four service aces from freshman Mackenzie Salls (Turners Falls, Mass.).

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) collected 10 kills and nine digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (4-15, 0-3 MASCAC), who also received three kills from junior Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.).  Junior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) added 15 set assists and three digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received five service aces from senior Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.), 15 digs from junior Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) and a pair of solo blocks from freshman Jennifer Roy (Attleboro, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Worcester State in a doubleheader on Saturday morning at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 11:00 a.m., as the first contest of the day will be a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference clash.  Salem State heads to North Adams, Mass. for a tri-match with MCLA (MASCAC match) and SUNY-Delhi on Saturday morning that begins at 11:00 a.m.
