Volleyball To Take On 24-Match Slate In Appleman's Inaugural Campaign This Fall

After enjoying a standout playing career at Barnstable High School and MASCAC rival Bridgewater State, Melanie Appleman is looking to have that same success in her inaugural season as Massachusetts Maritime’s Head Volleyball Coach this fall.  The rookie mentor is set to guide the Buccaneers on a 24-match schedule that includes six conference clashes as well as the Sixth Annual Maritime Classic in mid-September.

Appleman’s squad begins the new campaign on Thursday, September 3rd when Massachusetts Maritime hosts Becker in a non-league match at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT, as her crew will also entertain Suffolk and Pine Manor (twice) in non-league home action.  The Buccaneers will take on Curry, Bay Path and Wentworth in non-conference affairs and will also participate in the Maritime Classic with SUNY-Maritime, Maine Maritime and host Merchant Marine during the weekend of September 19-20.

The MASCAC season kicks off on when Massachusetts Maritime heads to MCLA for a tri-match on Saturday, September 26th beginning at Noon EDT, as the Buccaneers will welcome Framingham State (Wednesday, September 30th), Worcester State (Saturday, October 17th) and Westfield State (Halloween afternoon) to Cape Cod for conference play.  Appleman’s squad also travels to Salem State (Tuesday, October 13th) and Bridgewater State (Wednesday, October 21st) for league matches.
