NORTH ADAMS, Mass. --  Junior Allison Clark (San Jose, Calif.) notched 14 kills to lead MCLA to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the opening contest of a tri-match played Saturday afternoon at the Amsler Sports Center.  The Buccaneers also dropped a 3-0 non-league decision to Bay Path in the middle contest before the host Trailblazers swept the Wildcats in the final match of the day.

 

Sophomore Margaret Allen (Patchogue, N.Y.) added six kills and four service aces in MCLA’s (12-3, 2-0 MASCAC) 25-14, 25-15, 25-9 opening victory, while sophomore Tayler Wiese (Las Vegas, Nev.) collected 11 set assists and four service aces for the winners.  Senior Angelica Perfido (Whately, Mass.) chipped in with 17 digs for the Trailblazers, who also received 12 digs from sophomore Chanielle Enomoto (Walluku, Hawaii) and four service aces from freshman Beatrice Lechler (Point Lookout, N.Y.).

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) recorded eight digs, four kills and three service aces in the opening setback for Massachusetts Maritime (1-11, 0-1 MASCAC), which also received a combined 12 digs from junior Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) and freshman Kaleigh Hoffman (Noblesville, Ind.) as well as five set assists from junior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.).

 

Sophomore Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) registered nine kills and six digs in Bay Path’s (5-5) 25-12, 25-9, 25-10 triumph over the Buccaneers, while junior Jennifer Pham (Springfield, Mass.) added seven kills and seven digs for the Wildcats, who also received a combined 11 kills and seven digs from senior Elizabeth Haylette (Terryville, Conn.) and junior Aaliyah Gordon (Springfield, Mass.) as well as 16 set assists from freshman Lexi Cears (Agawam, Mass.).  Klangos collected four more kills and six digs in the middle match setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received 13 digs from O’Connor and a pair of service aces from senior Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while MCLA hosts Anna Maria in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at the Amsler Sports Center that also begins at 7:00 p.m.  Bay Path travels to Milton, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Curry in a non-league match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
