Rosano Named As MASCAC Football Special Teams Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime junior Bobby Rosano was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Saturday evening for his performance in the Buccaneers’ 24-20 Chowder Bowl victory over SUNY-Maritime on Thursday night at Clean Harbors Stadium.

A native of North Reading, Mass. and a graduate of North Reading High School, Rosano averaged 38.8 yards on four kickoff returns (155 total yards), including an 86-yard return for a late third quarter touchdown that sparked Massachusetts Maritime’s comeback from a 10-point deficit to its first triumph in the six-game Chowder Bowl series with the Privateers.  Rosano amassed 194 all-purpose yards for the contest, including five receptions for 39 yards.

The Buccaneers will play for another rivalry trophy next weekend, as Massachusetts Maritime heads to Castine, Maine next Saturday afternoon to take on Maine Maritime in the 41st Annual Admiral’s Cup at Ritchie Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s squad has won the last two Admiral’s Cups, including a 42-23 victory over the Mariners in the 2012 match-up.
