WORCESTER, Mass. --  Senior Jackie Connors (Ashland, Mass.) netted four goals and four assists for eight points to lead Worcester State to a 19-3 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening at Coughlin Field.

 

The host Lancers (8-8, 4-2 MASCAC) scored nine of the first 10 markers of the match in building a 15-2 advantage at the break, as senior Kaila Chase (Northbridge, Mass.) added a hat trick and three helpers for the winners.  Sophomore Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.) also collected a hat trick and two assists for Worcester State, which received a goal and three helpers from junior Angelina Sutherland (Tyngsboro, Mass.) as well as a marker and assists from junior Alaina Martin (East Longmeadow, Mass.).

 

Seniors Amanda Pruyn (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Katelyn Murphy (Billerica, Mass.) and Mackenize Callini (West Springfield, Mass.), junior Chloe Anderson (Williamstown, Mass.), sophomores Mackenzie Little (Marlboro, Mass.) and Alexa Harvey (Attleboro, Mass.) as well as freshman Kylie Farrell (Sutton, Mass.) each tallied in the triumph for the Lancers, who received a nine-save effort in goal from junior Krissy Pessa (Walpole, Mass.).

 

Sophomore Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) netted a pair of goals in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (4-10, 1-6 MASCAC), as she finished the spring with a school single-season record 43 goals and 20 assists for 63 points.  Freshman Meghan Doherty (Malden, Mass.) accounted for the other tally of the evening for Massachusetts Maritime, which received four saves from sophomore Jamie Hayes (Stonington, Conn.) in her collegiate debut in net.  Worcester State outshot the Buccaneers by a 26-18 margin overall and held a 15-9 edge in draw controls for the contest.

 

Worcester State closes out its Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference slate on Friday evening by heading to Bridgewater, Mass. to take on Bridgewater State in a league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m., while tonight’s contest marked the final match of the season for Massachusetts Maritime.
