Crew Receives First Place Performance From Men's Novice Four In Dual Competition With UMass Lowell

BOURNE, Mass.--  The Massachusetts Maritime crew team fared well in dual-competition at both the novice and varsity levels with UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon on Herring Pond.

The men’s novice four consisting of freshman coxswain Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.) as well as fellow freshmen Dylan Travers (Denver, Colo.), Samuel Williamson (Media, Pa.), Andrew MacDonald (Franklin, Mass.) and Alexander Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) took top honors with a time of 8:37.60, while the men’s second novice four of freshman coxswain Devon Brodeur (Ashford, Conn.) and fellow freshmen Tyler Fifield (Wakefield, Mass.), John Bradford (Rockport, Mass.), Frederick Santory (Land O’Lakes, Fla.) and John Bambury (Billerica, Mass.) finished third with a time of 9:48.36.

The men’s varsity four consisting of coxswain Lester, freshman Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and sophomores Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.), Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) and Robert Meyer (Rancho Murieta, Calif.) finished second with a time of 7:53.90, while the women’s varsity four of coxswain Jagielski, sophomores Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.), Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and Jordan Megee (Lakewood, N.J.) and freshman Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass.) also posted a second place time of 10:03.67.

The Buccaneers return to action next Saturday afternoon by heading to Worcester to take on UMass Lowell, Assumption and host Clark beginning at 9:00 a.m.
