Crew Records Three Top Five Performances In Competion On Lake Quinsigamond

WORCESTER, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime crew team posted three top five finishes during competition on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday afternoon, as the regatta hosted by Clark also featured entrants from Amherst, Assumption, Brandeis, Holy Cross, UMass Lowell and Wentworth.

The men’s novice four placed fourth in finishing 1:37 in back of race winner Wentworth, as the Buccaneer tandem included junior coxswain Mark Brien (Methuen, Mass.) as well as freshmen Dylan Travers (Denver, Colo.), John Bambury (Billerica, Mass.), David Mackay (Panama City, Panama) and Alex Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.).

The women’s varsity four of coxswain Jagielski, sophomores Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) and Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and freshmen Lauren Bateman (Newbury, Mass.) and Kelsie Brien (Methuen, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 10:13.1, while the men’s varsity four consisting of freshman coxswain Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.) as well as freshman Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and sophomores Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.), Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) and Robert Meyer (Rancho Murieta, Calif.) placed fifth in the event, finishing 1:08.4 in back of race winner Amherst.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday morning to compete against Amherst, Bowdoin, Connecticut College, Middlebury and host Clark beginning at 9:00 a.m.
