Men's Crew Records Three Top Five Finishes At Clark Regatta

WORCESTER, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime crew team posted three top five finishes during competition at the Clark Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond Saturday afternoon, as the event included rowers from Amherst, Bowdoin, Connecticut College and host Clark.

The men’s second novice four consisting of freshman coxswain Devon Brodeur (Ashford, Conn.), junior Mark Brien (Methuen, Mass.) and freshmen John Bambury (Billerica, Mass.), John Bradford (Rockport, Mass.) and Raymond Burke (Braintree, Mass.) placed second with a time of 9:15.2, as Amherst took top honors in the event with a time of 8:47.2. 

The men’s novice four of freshman coxswain Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.) and fellow freshmen Dylan Travers (Denver, Colo.), Samuel Williamson (Media, Pa.), Andrew MacDonald (Franklin, Mass.) and Alexander Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) finished fourth with a time of 8:29.9, finishing 51 second behind race winner Connecticut College.

The men’s varsity four consisting of sophomore coxswain Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) as well as freshman Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.) and sophomores Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.), Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) and Robert Meyer (Rancho Murieta, Calif.) placed fifth with a time of 8:03.3, finishing 45 seconds behind the top entrant from Bowdoin.

Massachusetts Maritime will compete at the 2011 New England Championships next Saturday morning.
