Crew Posts Solid Performances In Less Than Ideal Conditions At New Hampshire Championships

PEMBROKE, N.H. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads posted solid performances in less than ideal weather conditions on Saturday afternoon at the New Hampshire Championships that were held on the Merrimack River.

The men’s novice eight consisting of freshman coxswain Matthew Lester (Monroe Township, N.J.) as well as freshmen Maxwell Horton (Malden, Mass.), Tyler Fifield (Wakefield, Mass.), Robert Ferguson (Mooresville, N.C.), Dylan Travers (Denver, Colo.), Andrew Noonan (Andover, Mass.), John Bambury (Billerica, Mass.), John Wilder (Plympton, Mass.) and Alexander Jagielski (Guilford, Conn.) placed second of seven squads competing by posting a time of 16:11, besting the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the process.

The men’s varsity four of sophomore coxswain Angella Esposito (Boston, Mass.), seniors Jason Ellershaw (Chester, Mass.) and Ian Parsons (Westboro, Mass.) and sophomores Matthew Mourey (Franklin, Mass.) and Devin McNeil (Westford, Mass.) placed sixth of 10 competitors with a time of 15:33, while the women’s varsity four comprised of sophomore coxswain Lauren Denapoli (Boston, Mass.) and fellow sophomores Delphine Estebe (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Janeen Manghis (Nantucket, Mass.), Alicia Tarr (Danvers, Mass.) and Emma King (Princeton, Mass.) finished 14th of 17 competitors with a time of 17:54.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action this weekend by heading to Cambridge, Mass. to participate in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta.
